Press release

August 10th 2021

Dear Lions Prairie Classic competitors,

It is with deep regret we have to announce our best efforts to make our August tournament dates work, has come to an end. The fisheries department informed us today that they would not issue a fishing license for us to hold the Russell Lions Prairie Classic Walleye Tournament at the end of August. This decision was based on high lake temperatures and lack of precipitation this summer and they believe to hold a tournament would have a grave impact on the fishery.

I am sure we are not alone in the huge disappointment in this announcement - we know many of you were really looking forward to being able to go out and compete once again and we were certainly looking forward to hosting this great event.

We will offer three courses of action.

1. Move you into the 2022 tournament and carry your registration fees forward.

2. Move you into the 2022 tournament and issue a refund - you will have until Jan 15 2022 to pay for your early bird entry and guarantee your 2022 place

3. Cancel and receive a full refund.

While the decision was not of our making, we do feel a sadness that we were not able to be a part of getting back some of our normal pleasures this summer. Therefore, please accept our sincere apologies. If you do decide to visit our part of paradise this summer the bite has been awesome!

Stay safe and here’s to June 11 & 12th 2022 being in your tourney calendar.

All the best

Kevan & Ritchie
